I have never told anyone what to write, so the repetition in these reviews is not mine. But the same three things come up again and again, and they are worth naming, because they are the parts of this job I can actually control.
Returning calls and emails. This is the most common complaint people have about lawyers, and it is the easiest one to fix. If you call my office, you get me or you get a call back — not a case manager reading from a file.
Explaining what is happening. New York workers’ compensation is a procedural system with its own forms, deadlines and vocabulary, and almost none of it is intuitive. A large part of what I do is translation. The same lawyer from start to finish. Comp cases are long. They run through hearings, independent medical exams, appeals, permanency, and sometimes a settlement years after the accident. Two of the people below have been clients for more than a decade — one since 2011, another for over thirteen years.
